Arlene Malay ~ Owner
Arlene Malay has been in the Beauty Industry since 1964 when she joined her mother and sister in their salon. She worked for the next 18 years in Boulder , CO . Her husband's job then took them to Topeka , KS , then Arizona . She decided instead of starting over, she would change directions in her career and went to the Institute of Esthetics in Tucson and found a great love for the Esthetic side of the field of beauty. She practiced esthetics at some of the top resorts and at the same time got her instructors license in Arizona . She was instrumental in opening and accrediting 3 schools of which she managed and trained instructors.
In 1991, she moved to Austin , Texas where she managed 19 schools and was an accreditation specialist. She wrote curriculums and oversaw all operations.
She then moved to Carlsbad , CA and worked as a Manager, Supervisor and Financial Aid Director for 2 colleges. She created new curriculums, trained instructors and loved to teach students.
Arlene came back home to Denver in 1991 to take care of her parents who just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. She started her own school in July of 2004 and is living her dream. Arlene knows from her years of experience that her goal for her students is that they get everything they deserve in an education and beyond.
Nancy Nation
Nancy started her career in the Beauty Industry in 1964. She was awarded the Colorado Private Schools TEACHER OF THE YEAR award by her students which tells the caliber of her skills not only as an educator but a humanitarian. Nancy is an Instructor of Esthetics and Cosmetology. Her love of the esthetics field has grown and she has continued her education by attending many educational events, conferences and advanced classes. Nancy has been Supervisor of programs, as well as curriculum planning, has worked budgets and has served as a liaison to businesses through communication and advisory committees. She has proved to be an invaluable asset to her school, students and fellow instructors.
Dr. Michael Pierce
Dr. Michael Pierce consults on difficult neurological and metabolic cases for health care practitioners and has coordinated care for coma cases and dental, optometry, massage, veterinary and occupational therapy practices. He has been an adjunct professor of clinical sciences for Northwestern Health Sciences University, and has taught continuing medical education courses for license renewal in several states for 13 years. He provides the chiropractic for the Wildcat Sanctuary, a 501.c3 nonprofit organization and has participated in clinical studies using chiropractic and herbs for feline leukemia virus. Dr. Pierce attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Palmer College of Chiropractic, the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies, and is pursuing graduate studies in cognitive neuroscience.
Judy Sale
Judy has been a licensed Cosmetologist since 1967. After receiving her license she worked in the industry for about two years. She then made the decision to get her instructor's license which opened up the opportunity for her to teach at Royal Beauty Academy in Arizona. She then took a leap of faith and owned, We R Styling salon. She then added the state board license of permanent makeup to her career which was very financially beneficial and rewarding. Judy then moved to Colorado six years ago and decided to pursue her teaching career again. She taught at several other schools before landing her place here at College of International Esthetics, Inc. Judy has 42 years of experience, knowledge and technical ability to offer the students.
Makyala O'Dell
Makayla began her career in the healthcare field as a multi-unit phlebotomist and CNA. She then completed a Bachelors' Degree at The University of Wyoming in Social Work and Psychology. Makayla studied and practiced therapy for one year at a mental health center in Laramie, WY before moving to Denver, CO. Upon moving to Colorado she pursued her esthetics license at College of International Esthetics in 2006. Makayla then started her own private practice as an esthetician (specializing in chemical peels, waxing and make- up artistry), birthing doula and life coach. She started her own company with a spa grade organic body care line that came onto the market in 2008. Besides being an instructor at College of International Esthetics she continues her pursuit of makeup artistry, fashion shows, eyelash extension, photo shoots and teaching.
